Theranostics Starts Here

Theranostics promises to add many new precise and powerful therapies to treat different cancers. Wisconsin has a unique opportunity to be a leadership in the research, clinical use, manufacturing, supply and distribution of theranostics agents. Our research institutions are at the forefront of research into radiopharmaceutical, human oncology, and imaging; our regional industries are leaders in established as well as emerging tech ologies that are core to diagnosing and treating cancers; and our region excels at manufacturing at scale.

Under the guidance of the Wisconsin BioHealth Tech Hub, and with the support of academic and industrial partners, we are proposing a regional effort that will build a powerhouse regional engine that can help develop, scale, and product these new agents;

  • Leverage the world-class clinical and scientific research expertise in our region to help develop and advance theranostics in the state of WI;
  • Lead the anchoring of critical production elements to protect our national health security;
  • Develop a production and distribution infrastructure that can efficiently scale the output and cost effectiveness, and thereby speed the adoption and growth of these new therapies;
  • Plan for the deployment of the innovative technologies that will enable the end-to-end clinical realization of this future aspirational future.

We will convene a business development meeting specifically to advance WI as a leader in theranostics and explore the above points.

To achieve these goals, we will focus on three working segments for our forum:

Segment 1 - Define the Key Problem(s) to Solve – “If I were given one hour to save the planet, I would spend 59 minutes defining the problem and one minute resolving it”

Segment 2 – Brainstorm and Select Top Solutions - "Every problem has in it the seeds of its own solution”

Segment 3 – Plan for Creating our WI Advantage and Business Strategy - “If you do not know where you are going, every road will get you nowhere”

10-11:30 a.m.
Segment 1 - Problem to be solved

Review outputs from June 4/5 Slido questions, reframe as barriers or challenges to success – start with the following:

Capacity, Cost, Infrastructure, Workforce, Collaboration/ Partnerships

Pulse team: Agreed on these? Any additions?

Break into 5 or more teams - Aim for 8 – 10 participants per team.

Define the breakout team exercise – Each team to work on a fishbone (cause and effect) - Fishbone diagrams are commonly used in healthcare for root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and analyze potential causes of problems

Fishbone goal & output for teams:

1) Identify what are the top 1 – 3 area(s) where we need to work TOGETHER to solve a problem to achieve the vision.

2) Identify other areas that will need to be addressed - might not need the whole group, or might need help from others outside this group and place in parking lot

3) Deep dive on 2-3 key barriers to this problem and do 5-Whys on each (or at least the top one)

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Working Lunch and Output from Breakout Teams

Report out over lunch on fishbone, the top problemarea(s), and the key insights from the 5-whys

12:30-2:00 p.m.
Segment 2 - Define Solutions

How do we want to solve top problems – Select solutions that are within our ability to solve.

Parking lot/partners needed to solve other problems

1) 1 hour - Brainstorm Solutions to the top problems in each breakout group.  If there are overlaps on problems between teams, we will combine or mix up teams.

2) 30 minutes - Each solution will be “voted” on with dots – each person gets 5 dots and places them on the top solution/ action on flipchart – 1 dot per flipchart.

2:00-2:30 p.m.
Break and Networking

2:30-4:00 p.m.
